New goodies from Charlie!

I used to love making snowflake cut outs from paper when I was a kid. It was a fun winter project and most times I never knew what was going to come out when I unfolded the paper. Charlie's got some great new notepaper flakes out for those crafty layouts of your kids making garlands or their own snowflakes.

Get them here for 50% off until the end of the month.

What a month!

It's been insanely busy this month! I cannot get over it. With my mom's move, and work being insane too, it's just been hard to find time to breathe!

But I am taking some time for myself to scrap and design. I have to in order to maintain my sanity!

I have an idea for a beautiful winter kit and I'm working on it a bit at a time. I think I'll probably throw in some glitter - you know me.

Speaking of glitter, have you checked this out yet? Charlie's got an awesome deal on this glitter pack:

She's designer of the month at Digi Scrap Obsession in December, so go check this deal out!

Shopping habits

Isn't it funny, this time of year, how crazy people get in malls? I mean really nuts. As if everything on sale isn't enough, there have to be doorcrashers. And then sale, after sale, after sale. For the most part, this is why I avoid shopping now. I'm just so sick of buying into the whole retail "You absolutely cannot live without this item" marketing ploy. Or having to go shopping every season because last winter's "brown is the new black" is actually pink this year. So how do I deal with the holiday season, or shopping for holidays? I don't. I avoid. Like the plague, until the absolute last minute.

Now for our anniversary, that's a different story in a way. It used to be that we'd go shopping together on the same day, different stores, same mall. Then meet up, go home and open gifts. Then came the "well this is so perfect for you, I'd like to get it for an anniversary gift for you now, is that ok?". So as far as shopping for gifts, I guess we kind of find things while we are both out shopping. But this year I want things to be different. I really want it to be a surprise. So maybe we'll go back to our original plan. Shop the day before or the day of our anniversary, and surprise each other when we get home.

How do you handle shopping?

Ah, my favourite season of the year!

You have to just love Fall here in the Capital. The leaves are turning bright orange and red! We had such a wet spring and summer, but that's good for fall...otherwise the leaves only turn yellow and golds, or so I'm told. As I sit here in my office at lunch, staring out the window across the river to the Gatineaus, I can see that the leaves are already turning much more there than here. Looks like we'll have to see if we can get out to hike next weekend, as it might be peak weekend for the turning of the leaves. I just love this time of year. Crisp days with bright blue skies. Cool nights to walk the dog. The leaves just fallen off the trees leaving their marks on the sidewalk. What's not to like about Fall?

Oh, right. It means winter is coming. :(

New Layouts

I got to work with some really cute stuff this week. The first is from a cute kit by Charlie's Digiscrap, called Up, Up and Away. It's available at Digital Scrapbook Obsession, and using template by Lauren Grier.

The next was one of the many challenges I did at Sweet Shoppe Designs this week. I used Misty Cato's Rocky Shores kit.

Another SSD challenge: Using Fee Jardine's Falling for You kit.

One more challenge: For the Sugar Free Challenge at SSD, using Kristin Cronin-Barrow and Meghan Mullen's Cozy Kitchen, and Moments in Time alpha by Kristin Cronin-Barrow. Template by Cindy Schneider

For the Journaling Challenge at SSD - using Kristin Cronin-Barrow's All About Her kit, and a template by Cindy Schneider.

Scraplifting Tovetyll for the Paper to Digi challenge. Here's my take on Dreams. Using My Wish for You by Eva Kipler.

For the Inspiration Challenge at SSD. Using: Template by Cindy Schneider, Some Like it Hot by Zoe Pearn, and Bad Sewing Machine IV by Traci Reed.

The last layout got me a Gallery Standout at SSD. Really thrilled about that one. Anyhow, I hope you enjoy the eye candy as much as I enjoyed making it.

County Fairs

Ever had a summer where on the radio station, they announce every. single. county. fair...? Yep, that's the kind of summer it was here, but every weekend it rained. So this weekend it may be one of the last fairs before Fall really hits. Will I get to it? Doubt it, but maybe we'll try on Sunday. Sure would be nice since I love the atmosphere.

Ottawa Senators - is this their year?

I admit, I'm not a huge fan of any particular team for any reason, but I will always cheer for my home team. Now in the beginning, this was a great team to go for. I mean they were awesome. Great captain, great team work, great defense, great goalie. But lately it's filled with whiners and complainers and there have been more odd trades that I can count. The current fiasco has to do with Jeff Heatley. Wants to be traded. They won't trade. Ugh....doesn't anyone realize that the kid just won't be effective if he doesn't really want to be here? ARGH! Trade him already!

Things like that have really irked me about the Sens lately...will I continue to cheer for them. Sure thing, because in the battle of Ontario, who the heck wants the Leafs to win?

Some recent layouts

DH and I spent out vacation in Nova Scotia this year. We have soooo many pictures and my goal is to try to scrap them all. Well at the very least, most of them. So I'm going to have to avail myself of some multi-photo templates! Want to see some of my latest? These all use great goodies from Sweet Shoppe Designs.

New goodies to play with!

So I've just been announced as one of the newest members on Charlie's Digiscraps' CT and what a great team. Charlene is awesome. And she makes some of the best stuff. Here's a CU grab bag she's got on right not that you have to see. I've opened it up and can't wait to incorporate some of it into some fun stuff for you!

For those of you aren't designers, she's also got a fabulous personal use bag up too.

You can get both at her store at DSO! Don't miss it while they are on sale!

Well it's been quite a while since I've been here

But I'm going to start a personal blog again, because I have a life! LOL

Seriously though, my design blog isn't always the right place for things, so I'm putting them here now.

I love to shop at SweetShoppe Designs and they have challenges that earn points. I love that! I haven't done enough to earn any points to redeem but September I think will be different. So here's one of the challenges... post a little quiz on your blog:

Here are todays quick and quirky questions:

1. Do you wash your own car or do you go to a car wash? Car wash.

2. Are you wearing socks right now? Nope. Crocs

3. Where were you 3 hours ago? In bed

4. Do you have laundry waiting to be done? In the washer right now, with one load waiting.

5. Can you pick objects up with your toes? Yes, sometimes.
